All about Diamond painting
Diamond Painting is a relatively new creative hobby that allows you to create beautiful works of art using beads, also known as "diamonds," which are glued to a canvas. Diamond art is a combination of traditional cross-stitching and paint-by-numbers. It has become extremely popular in Russia and the United States and is part of the DIY trend. It is so addictive to see your work take shape little by little! Sticking the diamonds with the diamond painting pen or the tweezers according to the symbols, and then hearing this small sound each time a diamond is placed, in short, it's the best!
In this article, we will give you a detailed overview of everything you need to know about diamond painting, its benefits, and especially how to start.
DIAMOND PAINTING: HOW DOES IT WORK?
Diamond art is a method that allows you to create a painting in relief using thousands of small, shiny beads to stick to an adhesive pre-printed canvas that has been pre-printed with symbols to follow. Each diamond goes in a specific location, each location has a symbol, and it is therefore a kind of big puzzle that you should assemble and that takes shape progressively. The final result is a superb painting that can be framed and that sparkles in the light. There is something for everyone, landscapes, animals, cities, and many more.
Diamond painting is both simple and fun and can be likened to cross-stitching but in a 2.0 version. It is faster and fun, so you can make beautiful creations at home, alone or with family. Whether you are already a fan of creative hobbies or just starting out, let yourself be tempted by the diamond painting experience! Overall, it is said that diamond art is more relaxing than any other manual activity. So relax while creating Art!
WHERE DOES DIAMOND PAINTING COME FROM?
Diamond art appeared in 2015 as a new creative hobby combining creativity and maximum relaxation. The concept was launched in China and quickly exported to the world, particularly in Russia and in the United States, where other arts like paint-by-numbers have been democratised for many years. People in UK then joined the hype. There are often similarities with paint-by-numbers. At first, the first diamond paintings had a simple canvas printed with small raised squares, but it quickly became necessary to improve the concept as the beads did not stay in place.
And there was the solution! Make the surface adhesive by applying a sticky film to progressively peel off during the creation of the diamond painting. That way, once in place, the diamonds do not move and your work remains immortal.
EVERYONE CAN DO IT
Diamond painting is appreciated and created for adults and children (from 7 years old).
Adults will appreciate the relaxing anti-stress effect, while teenagers will be able to improve their concentration, work on their creative side and especially return to the basics, without screens.
And what about the seniors in all this? It's the perfect hobby! Creative artistic activities are excellent to stay in shape, work on memory, dexterity and develop well-being. It can also be a good way to get together as a family and share a manual project together.
REDUCTION OF STRESS AND ANXIETY
Diamond art allows you to forget all the everyday worries and let your mind focus on the present moment.
This calming and relaxing activity is therefore perfect for reducing anxiety and moving forward.
TRAINING THE BRAIN TO STAY FOCUSED
Diamond painting requires all of your attention. Each diamond must be placed with precision. For young people who have trouble staying focused in school, this can become an extracurricular activity that will help them work on their concentration.
DEXTERITY AND MOTOR SKILLS
You have to sort, select the diamonds, identify the zones and stick them, clearly an excellent work of precision.
SHARING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS
You can very well take advantage of it to realise your creation with your loved ones. It's the perfect activity in the evening or on the weekend, everyone pitches in and all of you realise beautiful works together. Many groups of people meet and share their common passions. It is perfect for getting advice and making new friends!
DEVELOPING CREATIVITY
Although this method is guided, it is certain that diamond art greatly improves creativity. The final realisation will give you a surge of inspiration to create other works with your own hands!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS OF DIAMONDS?
There are different possible variations, test them to find your favorite!
Square or Round Diamonds? Which shape should I use?
Generally, it is considered that square diamonds give a better result and it is the most commonly used option, especially for large sizes. Their shape being square, they are perfectly aligned and from far away it really makes beautiful works.
Round diamonds on the other hand give a more sparkling effect.
We sometimes talk about 5D or 3D diamonds, in fact it depends on the number of facets per diamond, depending on the shape.
Our survey is clear, 75% of our customers prefer square diamonds. But the best is always to test it by yourself!
What diamond painting size should I choose?
You can choose the size of your diamond painting, from 20x30cm to 90x120cm! The most commonly used standard size is 40x50cm but it should be known that the larger the format, the better the result: it's like a photo, the more pixels, the clearer the result! Small formats are therefore not recommended unless you take a simple image or want to test the concept before embarking on a big work.
